Steps to use content transfer tool to transfer contents from AEM 6.5 to AEMaaCS.

Prerequisite :

AEM 6.5.X environment with contents those need to be transferred.

AEM as a cloud service access where the contents need to be transferred.

Steps :

  1. Download the content migration tool from software distribution and install it in source AEM 6.5.X environment.
  2. Go to Tools in your AEM 6.5.X environment and click on Operations and select Content Migration > Content Transfer.
  3. Click on Create Migration Set and provide appropriate inputs (paths, version required or not etc). For extraction key, perform below steps.
  4. Go to https://experience.adobe.com/ and click on Cloud Manager (Experience manager application should be provisioned to you in order to use this service)
  5. Now, click on Launch button in Cloud Acceleration Manager.
  6. Create Project and provide a name.
  7. Click on newly created project and go to Implementation > Content Transfer and click on review/view.
  8. Click on Create Migration Set and provide appropriate name.
  9. Now in the list of migration sets (status of this migration set will be Ready to Extract), select newly created migration set and click on the … button and copy extraction key.
  10. Use this key while creating Migration Set on your local environment.
  11. Once this key is provided in AEM 6.5.X environment while creating Migration Set (Step 3), it will provide status if the connection was successful.
  12. Now, select the migration set in AEM 6.5.X environment and click on Extract (upper left corner with a cloud icon)
  13. This will initiate extraction on Cloud Acceleration Manager.
  14. This process will take some time. Once finished you’ll see status as Read to Ingest on Cloud Acceleration Manager.
  15. Now select Ingestion Jobs from the left panel and click on New Ingestion.
  16. Provide migration set that we created and environment where the ingestion should happen (It could be Cloud manager Dev/Stage/Prod environment where the user has admin access)
  17. You can also select if ingestion should happen to Author or Publish instance.
  18. Click on Ingest.
  19. If required a migration token can be retrieved from the AEMaaCS environment by accessing this path /libs/granite/migration/token.json. This will only be accessible if you’re also administrator at AEMaaCS environment.
